Friends and Colleagues,

As a trusted member of the music education sector I wanted to inform you of a project I am helping to lead in effort to get ahead of the new school year approaching us. I recently joined the Unified Voices for Music Education (UVfME) as the Instruction Lead for *AREA*. This effort is meant to be a solution based collective from music teachers throughout our country.

There are currently two opportunities to be involved in UVfME:

  1. You can simply join the collective by subscribing to the mailing list to receive details throughout the program about lesson plans, concepts, online meetings, etc………… AND/OR
  2. You can submit a Future Teaching Practice (FTP) which will help provide meaningful instruction and lesson plans for music teachers as we resume classes in the fall. These plans will be shared broadly with school districts, educational programs and of course the Unified Voices for Music Education collective during the summer months.

Recruiting Focus Group Members

Ask your circle: reach out to those folks you know are valuable members in the music education field. EVERY VOICE MATTERS. This is a collective effort with the potential to impact many – so grab your friends and colleagues to take part.

Get recommendations from your circle: have your circle recommend 1-3 others to bring into the focus group. The more the merrier – having people from every background is important to making sure this project is successful.

Consider universities with preservice teachers and graduate students: our preservice and graduate students are often and untapped source of knowledge – reach out to some local universities and see if there are any bright and promising young teachers to help shape what the future of music education could look like.

I am contacting you as a trusted leader in music education and hope you will consider participating in a smaller focus group that will be responsible for vetting the submitted FTPs. Others will later be able to sign up to be part of this focus group, but I felt you were a great fit to help review and develop these lesson plans fully to later be turned into learning resources for teachers.
