Central to the mission of CMAF is its non-partisan approach in advocating, endorsing and providing services that raise consumer awareness of the best practices to protect themselves from identity theft and other forms of fraud and privacy invasion.

In this electronic and increasingly wireless age, consumers have more access to a greater array of financial services than ever before. The payment system continues to provide more convenient, faster and safer means of shopping, paying bills, transferring funds and managing financial accounts.

Consumers have more choice than ever before about how to manage their financial affairs.   This brings with it the need to make informed decisions in making those choices and in protecting personal information.

You Can Protect Yourself... By Following Some Fairly Straight Forward Steps:

For consumers, CMAF recommends three principal initiatives to avoid and minimize the impact of identity theft, fraud and privacy invasion:

1. Learn about identity theft and common frauds.
2. Take appropriate steps to prevent fraud.
3. Learn how to detect and resolve fraud.
